Who am I?
Hi, I’m Richard Winstone, also known as "The Regulator Guy." I make complex public consultations easy to understand and provide clear guidance, empowering everyone to be able to influence regulated industries effectively. By turning complicated regulatory language into simple, actionable insights, I help you take control and make your voice heard.
I've been working in the energy industry since leaving university in 2015, but the last few years I've had a keen interest on what Ofgem are doing.
I learnt that regulators allow the public to have their say through consultations, which are often dozens (if not hundreds) of pages long and full of jargon. This led me to wanting to be The Regulator Guy, someone that takes in all the jargon knowledge and makes it more accessible to the public. I write blogs summarising and simplifying various consultations, then providing clear instructions on my responses and how you can provide Ofgem and other regulators with your responses too, so we can all have our say.
I also provide money saving tips and the odd blog about me and my life, just to give you a little better insight into who I am.
What do I offer?
I read consultations posted by various regulators and governmental departments, then I post short simplifications of those consultations, explaining what they're trying to do. I also share my exact response to the consultations and tell you how you can contact the regulator and give your views. I provide this information as both written in content in this blog and as video content on my YouTube channel.
