Orbus is a relatively new entrant to the Broadband market and they’re hitting the ground with an new USP.
No, they’re not undercutting the market with low prices, and they’re not offering free gadgets that customers don’t need. Instead, they’ve looked at the market and seen then biggest issues customers have are mid-contract price rises.
Last year, it was all focused on these price rises being linked to inflation, which made it confusing. This year, the drama is centred on O2 lying about how much they’re increasing bills by, breaking contracts but giving consumers the right to leave without facing exit fees – which is ridiculous.
So, Orbus thought, how about offering broadband without mid-contract price rises? Simple.
Are Orbus Expensive?
Surprisingly, no. Lets look at the maths and do some comparisons.
Orbus Pricing
In my area, for their fastest broadband, offering 900mbps download speeds, they’re charging £38.99 per month for 24 months, with no increases and they’ll give you a £50 Amazon gift card.
So, the total contract cost for this is £38.99 x 24 – £50 = £885.76 over 2 years.
Vodafone Pricing
Okay, in my area, for the same speed of internet (900mbps) Vodafone are charging £39.00 per month, which will increase by £3.50 each April over the next 2 years, and they are offering a £125 voucher. Assume I sign up from 1 December 2025, we can easily work out the total cost of this contract:
Dec25-Mar26: £39.00 x 4 = £156
Apr26-Mar27: £42.50 x 12 = £510
Apr27-Nov27: £46.00 x 8 = £368
So the total for this contract would be £156 + £510 + £368 – £125 = £909
That’s an additional ~£25 compared to Orbus, for the same speed of internet over the same time frame, and that’s assuming they don’t do what O2 did and increase bills by more than they’re saying they will.
Vodafone is the most expensive in my area, so in the interest of fairness, lets also look at the cheapest option.
Virgin Media Pricing

It looks like Virgin Media are the cheapest in my area for the 900mbps speed broadband. Virgin are currently charging £24.99 per month, with a £4.00 increase each April over the next two years. There is no voucher with this offer, although they may help you cover the early termination fee with your current provider if you’re charged one. So, let’s do the maths:
Dec25-Mar26: £24.99 x 4 = £99.96
Apr26-Mar27: £28.99 x 12 = £347.88
Apr27-Nov27: £32.99 x 8 = £263.92
So, the total cost of Virgin Media across the two years is £99.96 + £347.88 +£263.92 = £711.76
This means Virgin Media are coming in around £175 cheaper than Orbus and £200 cheaper than Vodafone over the two year period.
Overview and My Opinion
So, as I said, Orbus are not the cheapest in the market, nor are they the most expensive, but they are certainly the simplest. No other broadband provider is offering a contract that guarantees no mid-contract price rises, which is a refreshing deal to see in the market.
Before giving my opinion, I want to address any perceived biases here. Yes, I get paid a commission by Orbus for each sale. I also get paid a commission by Uswitch if you decide to go click that link above and purchase broadband that way. These commissions do not impact the prices you pay, it’s the same price even if you go directly to the supplier, it’s just a way of me keeping my services free to customers by getting a small slice of the pie from the broadband suppliers. But as I’m paid either way, my opinion isn’t biased (I hope).
So my honest views are: it is dependent on your priority. If getting the absolute cheapest deal is the most important thing to you, then go to Uswitch and run a price comparison, go with the cheapest supplier. If you prefer to purchase a contract and not be bothered or surprised with mid-contract price rises every year, which may or may not be higher than the supplier promised (damn you O2!), then Orbus is definitely the better option for you.
Orbus are essentially offering consistency in your bills and peace of mind that your bills won’t go up for 24 months. Their prices are middle-of-the-range, i.e. they’re not the cheapest but neither are they the most expensive. So, if you want security and consistency in your bills, give Orbus a look.
